Labour pledge to end the badger cull
The Labour Party have made a commitment to stop the badger cull in England if they get into power on June 8th. In their official party manifesto, Labour stated:
“We will cease the badger cull, which spreads bovine TB.”
As far back as 2013, Jeremy Corbyn tweeted about his opposition to the cull, saying:
“I am opposed to Badger cull. No to killing tens of thousands of these protected animals. Vaccinate against BTB”
Conversely, the Conservatives are extending the cull significantly. The government have issued new licenses in parts of Wales and sharply increasing the number of licensed counties in England.
